Game #18 - 14 August v's Wests Jaguars Draw 35-35

It was a slow start to the game with the team taking a while to get going.  It wasn't long and we were down 15 - nil.  However some quick thinking from Harry at a free kick got us on the score board.  Kane had some great runs in the first half and played his best game of the season. At half time we were down 20 -15. In the second  half the team again took a while to get going however we dominated the last 10 minutes with Kiri and Sharnay dominating the malls and Isaac, Max  and Eddy putting in some great tackles.  Luke Tapsell had a fantasic game with some great stepping and ended up being player of the day with his 4 run away tries.

Try scorers - Luke 4, Harry 2, Kavagn

Game #17 - 14 August v's MSP Tigers Draw 20-20

The team started off well with two early tries and lead 10 - 5 at half time. However it was always going to be a tough game and MSP came back with three tries soon after half time to lead 20-10 with about 10 minutes to go. With the forwards starting to get their drive going Sharnay and Eddie forced their way over the line to score and then Josh found some space and scored a run away try to tie the game up.  Harry was unlucky in the last minute, when he got aawy from the defence and was heading for the corner, only to be forced out just before the line, to leave the game tied at full time.

This was agreat effort from the team as MSP are a good team and we showed great spirit to get back in the game in the last 10 minutes to get the draw.  Stand out performers were Kiriahi, Sharnay and Eddie with there great determination in the forwards and Harry and Josh in the backs, who both found space to cause trouble for MSP on a number of occassions.  Man of the match was Josh for scoring two great tries and some fantastic defence.

Well done team.

Try scorers - Josh 2, Harry, Sharnay / Eddie (to hard to call)

Game #16 - 31 July v's Wests Panthers Won 50-10

The team started out brilliantly with great passing in the wet.  It was great to see passing out ot the wing and the great effort in the mauls.  Early in the second half we eased off however we came home well with some great trys.  Player of the day was Fergus who had a good game in the tight. Isaac had another stand out game with some determind running and Kiriahi was very strong in the mauls.  Harry, Josh, George and Luke all contested the ball well and as a result all got some great tries.  Well done team the first half effort was the best I have seen all season with the support play being outstanding, excellent work.

Try scorers - Harry 3, Isaac 2, Josh 2, Luke, George and Fergus

Game #13 - 17 July v's Poneke Titan's - Won 45-25

The team started out a bit rusty in our first game back from the holidays, however aftera  while we started to play some good rugby and came away with a good win.  Harry McKee had a great game and scored 5 tries and Kiriahi had a very determineed game with great tackling and some forcful running to take out player of the day.

Try scorers - Harry 5, Isaac 2, Kiriahi and Luke

Game #12 -  3 July v's Wests Panthers - Cancelled

Game #11 - 26 June v's Wests lions - Won 60-15
It was very wet and windy at Ian Gallowy. Mud everywhere.

Excellent back up play from Harry to Isaac to Josh who scored 6 tries through some excellent fast and evasive running.

Good bust up the middle stuff from Kiriahi.

We practised kick offs at training and we got results in the game. Good pursuit after the kicked ball and good catching and positional play on their kick.

Their coach called it a day only 10 minutes into the second half otherwise it would have been a route.

This team is improving every game, however we still need to work on those first up tackles.

Player of the Day was awarded to Harry McKee with an excellent all round game and some great tries.

Try Scorers: Josh 6, Harry 3, Isaac 2 and Stan S

Game #10 - 19 June v's Wests Wolves - Won 25-15
It was a fine day and the ground was perfect for rugby. We Played a Wests team that immediately ran in two soft tries. Our guys were a little shell shocked by that but soon replied. The game seesawed throughout the first half with Wgtn a little in front. It was in the second half and particularly the last quarter that the pace really picked up. Great defence by the Wgtn side and good bursts up the middle by Sharnay, Kiriahi, Kevarn,Harry and William Ross. When the ball was freed Josh, Luke, Harry and Isaac showed a clean pair of heels.  With Harry McKee scoring a length of the field try.

This was a good performance by the team in what is becoming a more complete team. Duncan spoke to the Wests coach who was clearly miffed that our tacklers had shut down their fast runners completely.

Player of the Day was awarded to Max Petrie who played a great game at No 8. He tackled and supported the ball carrier with vigour and is shaping up as our stand out loose forward.

Try Scorers: Isaac 2, Max, Josh and Harry

Game #9 - 12 June v's Poneke Padawans - Won 75-20

This was certainly a game of two halves, with a very close first half with both teams evenly matched. It was good to see the team get back to using the rolling mauls to good effect in the first half with great work in the tight by Sharnay, Isaac and Fergus.  With Fergus scoring an excellent try at the end of an excellent maul that pushed the other team back 15 meters. After a couple of late tries the team was ahead 25 -10 at half time.  Soon after the break we got a bit more space and Josh was able to show his speed and came away with 6 tries to enable us to dominate the second half.  The team also did some great offloading and the support play was great.  It was also good to see the team get the ball right out to the wing from set play, which is showing we are starting to operate more as a team. It was also great to see Stan Shepherd get his first try of the year with a great try in the corner.

Excellent work team.

Try scorers: Josh 6, Fergus 2, Sharnay 2, Harry, Isaac, George, Kavagn  and Stan Sheperd.

Game #8 - 5 June v West Vipers at Prince of Wales Park  - Lost 5-60

A very tough game this week against a well drilled Wests team. After getting off to a slow start in the first half the team was able to get a bit more ball through dominating the ruck and mauls with excellent work from Kiriahi, Eddie and Isaac.  Harry was showing good leadership as captain unfortunately they were just to good. With the team learning a lot from a very good team.

Try scorer - Josh.

Game #5 Cancelled - V Marist,    Game #6  Bye,     Game # 7 Cancelled

Game #4 - 8 May v's MSP Puma's at Hataitai - Draw 25-25

This was always going to be a tough game having lost to MSP last year and thanks to a last minute try the team came away with a well deserved draw.  Great effort team

There was a great improvement in the tackling in the game with Kevagn doing a copybook job on one of their players. He taclkled low and just cut him down.

While Kiri was injured with a crushed finger she showed she wasn't going to back down. Her tackling was outstanding and she had a great work rate.

William showed great aggression and is taking the ball up well.

Isaac is a great back and a great forward. He is always looking for work and never gives up.

Look out anyone that wants to take on Sharnay in future, when she is at full steam she does a lot of damage and she was a well deserved player of the day.

Try scorers: Isaac 2, Josh, Luke and Harry.

Game #3 - 1 May v's Wests Jaguars at Kilbirnie 3 - Won 35-5

Started out as a very tight game with scores being locked at 5 all at half time.  In the second half the team picked up the pace to run away with a comfortable 35-5 win. It was good to see a few kids trying some set moves from scrums to find space and score tries.  Luke Tapsell took out player of the day with great running rugby in scoring two tries, setting up another fantastic try for Harry McKee and he was fantastic on defence.

Sharney and Fergus were great in the tight and there was no way the other team were going to get the ball off those two in the mauls.

As well as Luke; Harry, Issac, George and Josh has some great runs with eveyone in the team having a great second half.

Well done again team we are going well.

Try scorers:  Luke 2, Harry, Fergus, Isaac, Eddy and Josh.

Game #2 - 24 April v's J'vile Dragons - Won 85-5

An amazing turn around from the loss the prior week with an increadible 85 - 5 win.  All the team played brilliantly and it was great to see them working on new skills as the score grew. George Knight took out player of the day with some great determined runs and support play.  Josh Bates showed great following up skills to score a try from the kick off and Fergus Bewleys use of the fend to score in the corner was an awsome effort.  It was also great to see Harry, Max, Isaac, Luke and Eddy show some great skills in finding space with passing down the blind side from scrums.

Well done team.

Try scorers: Josh 3, Harry 3, Isaac 3, Luke 2, Eddy, Fergus, George, Max, Kavagn  and William.

Game #1  - 17 April v's Ories at Hataitai - Lost 15-40

Tough game first up against the Ories who were one of  the 2 teams to beat from last year.  Great to see the new kids in the team Sharney, Rex, Kane and Kavagn all play well and congrats to Kavagn for taking out player of the day with two tries.
Try scorers - Kavagn 2, Isaac
