| Game #2 against Jvile Leopards |
|
A great game to start with a huge win. Everyone getting a touch of the ball with some strong running to score some great tries. Final score 70-10. Murilo's first game of rugby was a blinder. Scoring 3 tries and making some good tackles getting him the player of the day. The boys went to sleep just before half time and let the opposition in for 2 easy tries, but they got straight into their work after the break and turned the game back their way.
I'm sure this is a sign of a successful season.

| Game #4 against Poneke Dragons |
|
Lost 50-40
A great game on Saturday with all boys getting stuck into a strong Poneke side. We started the first half with strong driving over the ball and stealing large amounts of the opposition ball. With the turn over ball the backs showed great running with the result of us scoring 6 first half tries to their 2. Our ball retention throughout the half was good with strong movements the length of the field.
As with last week when we turn in the second half the boys went to sleep for the first 5 minutes, letting Poneke score 2 easy tries.Poneke then went on a bit of a roll scoring 5 unanswered tries. The game then teetered backwards and forwards between them and us. They scored 3 run away tries which was unfortunate, but the boys fought it out right to the very end. It was our best game of the season and though the scoreboard didn't reflect it was a game we could have easily won.
Player of the Day was Sam Bacon with some aggressive tackling, driving and running with the ball.
The team is growing in confidence and is starting to get some real self belief which is great to see.

The boys had a hugh victory on saturday 100 - 5. We scored in the first minutes of the game and continued scoring throughout the game. We started to pass the ball alot more in the second half and played more as one unit instead of individuals which was fantastic to see. Player of the day was Roshan with some great straight running and awesome try. The whole team is starting operate as one unit and are improving with each game. Well done boys. |
| Game #10 against Newlands Hunters |
|
Score: Win 50-30
Another great game from the boys. Playing up at Newlands Park with a strong wind the game was a real game of 2 halves.
We played into the wind in the first half with some great running and team work from Callum Hodson and Jayden. They linked well together to give us a first half lead of 3 tries. Newlands had some big strong running players that caused us alot of trouble if they weren't put down early.
Turning around at half time to play with the wind gave us no advantage. Newlands came back strongly to come within 1 try. The boys learnt to play to the whistle and ignore some interesting refereeing decisions.Even with the lack of ball Milo and Sam Rowan scored some strong tries only to have them dis allowed for odd reasons!! One of the stand out factors of the game was the team work and passing to each other. The boys really played as a team.
Player of the Day: Sam Bacon with his tireless tackling.

| Game #12 against Poneke Taikas |

Fantastic game for the boys on saturday on the astro turf for the first time. Mixed feedback from the players like for the ground as not having oranges allowed on the field was not popular. The team is certainly starting to understand the meanining of team and support play which was evident in a number of tries on saturday. Jack was awarded player of day with some great tackles and strong runs. A special mention to Milo, Jayden Sam and Alex who went out to Nairnville and played for the under 11s. Jonathan and I were very proud of the way they played up against some bigger guys. Keep up the good work boys.

| Game #13 Against West Wild Cats |
|
Another game at the new artifcle park and the boys showed they are really enjoying their rugby. With a few boys away with the holidays it didn't seek to affect the lads on the pitch. Some strong running and great ball stealing & retention saw 6 first half tries. At the break we talk about strong defence( Not letting West score) and scoring 8 second half tries. This seemed to spring them into life and the tries were coming thick and fast. West then picked their game up and push ours boys to score a try. We finished with 7 second half tries and West scored 1. A great result. Player of the day: Soul with some strong running and great hits on the opposition. The season has only 5 more weeks and the teams we have to face are some of the strongest in the competition so it will be a good test for the boys. |
| Game #16 Against West Tigers |
|
Win 50-30 Against the West Tigers.
This was a real game of two halves.
On a wet and cold POW the boys came out in the first half with all guns a blazing.
They tackled well and stole the West's ball at every opportunity. Some strong running from all of the backs saw us score 7 first half tries.
The mud and rain didn't seem to faze the boys and they kept the pressure on a shell shocked West side.
The second half was a different story. West got to get to grips with the conditions and had some big boys that ran straight and hard.
They turned the tables on us and did to us what we had done to them in the first half. With the penalty count mounting against us West's looked like they could come back and win the game.
But we held out and scored some crucial tries to keep the gap comfortable.
It was a fair result and all the boys enjoyed the muddy conditions. Only 3 games left and it would be great to finish the season with 3 wins.
Player of the Day: Sam Bacon with some strong tackling and a tireless work effort.

| Game #17 Against Poneke Incredibles |
|
Win 105 -10 This weeks game has seen the team come together as one unit and out perform the opposition in all areas. A fantastic effort from the forward pack in slippery conditions ensuring that we got most of the ball. The back line played a very fast paced game which saw the opposition wondering what next! All round it was one of our most impressive performances of the season. The player of the day went to Sam Rowan who showed controlled agression and committment throughout the whole game. Well done Axemen. |

Well the boys went to POW 1 with all the belief they would win by 50 points and they ran head long into a solid MSP team which did to us what we normally do to our opposition.
We started well with a wealth of ball and field position. Hammering their line with a couple of opportunities to score tries. This however didn't last with MSP scoring 3 un-answered tries.
This seemed to spring us into life and we came back strongly with some length of the field plays.
By half time we had evened it up at 20 all.
The talk at half time was that we had to score first. This didn't happen and the tough and physical nature of the MSP play saw them get out to a 35-20 lead.
As always the boys didn't give up and they ground the score back to 35 all. From here it could have gone either way but MSP always seemed to have the slight edge which saw them win 35-40.
Possible the most physical and excting game we've played.
It was a good lesson for the boys as they've won the last few games easily and it goes to show you can't under estimate any team.
Last game this week and lets hope we can finish on a high.
Player of the Day- Tayla with some agressive play around the rucks and mauls and constant backing up.
